I’ve spent twenty years in tech — as an Apple tech, a senior support tech at the University of Alberta, and a telecom tech at TELUS. But for the last ten I’ve run my own business, which means I’ve also done the invoicing, chased the files, and lost afternoons to work a computer should have handled.
That’s the part most IT people haven’t lived. It’s why I start with your week rather than your equipment.

Why I work with businesses that aren’t tech businesses
Big companies have IT departments and marketing teams. You have a business to run — and somewhere along the way, somebody on your team became “the tech person” without ever applying for it. The gap between those two worlds is where I work.
The businesses I help aren’t broken — they’re busy. Everyone was hired for the actual work: the trade, the care, the product. The technology grew sideways in the meantime, one account and one workaround at a time. My job is to take that whole side off your team’s plate and give it what it never had — one person responsible for it.
And for the record: I have never once been shocked by someone’s setup. Whatever state yours is in, it isn’t the worst I’ve seen, and it isn’t a character flaw. It’s just the starting point.
